MARTELEZE VAN GRAAN
Counselling Psychologist
BSocSci Psychology (UP) | BSocSci Psychology Honours (UP) | MA Counselling Psychology (UP)

About my practice
My practice is predominantly therapy-based, where I consult with individuals, couples, and teens. I perceive the world through the lens of relationships and believe that our mental health and well-being are intertwined with the health of our relationships. This extends to our family, friends, work, or school environments, and all the relationships we encounter. These form the foundation of my approach – understanding my clients in relation to their worlds and then employing various techniques in which I am trained. I am proficient in Interaction Pattern Analysis, Person-Centered interviewing, Teddy Bear Therapy, Hypnosis (Level III), and Sport Psychology.
Marteleze’s work encompasses therapy, performance enhancement, and group cohesion
I am also involved in and passionate about sports. Within sports, I help with individual and team performance, career development and challenges after pursuing a professional sporting career. The sports context presents unique challenges to individuals, teams and coaches and as a Sports Psychologist, I can assist with interpersonal challenges, performance and maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle.
Regarding my work in sports psychology, I assist athletes at the Sport Exercise Medicine and Lifestyle Institute (SEMLI), affiliated with the University of Pretoria.
